Process Cooling and Chilled Water Systems

Process cooling is an application that is made to meet the needs of a process in the most efficient way and is usually done with chillers.

Chiller systems are used in almost all industries. (Large area air conditioning, shopping malls, business centers, cinema and theater halls, sports halls, hotels, plastic processing etc.)

As the name suggests, chillers produce cold water and are generally used in air conditioning systems (air handling units, fan coils, etc.). The water cooled by the evaporators of the chillers is sent to the cooling coils inside the air handling units through insulated pipes. Cold water cools the hot air passing through the cooling coil and the cooled air is delivered to the indoor environment through the ducts of the air handling units. The water heated by the hot air works in a closed circuit and goes back to the chiller device. The system usually operates between 7C-12C.

One of the biggest advantages of using chillers in air conditioning systems is that the evaporators of conventional air conditioners in humid climates do not freeze and thus not be cooled in chiller systems. In chiller systems, since the water sent to the cooling coils does not fall below 7C, there is no freezing in the coils, so cold air can be continuously sent indoors.
